RationalPlan is a good alternative to MS Project. It is not open source but it has an affordable price:

Hi There,

A few weeks ago I stumbled across your blog while searching for some content on Small Business. I have since read a few of your articles and I absolutely love reading the content on your site.

Please allow me to introduce myself - my name is Jeffrey Gross and I would like you to give me a chance to write some content specifically and exclusively for your website. I specialize in writing on many topics including (but not limited to) SEO, PPC, Internet Marketing and business etc in general.

I own 4 small businesses here in New York (On Long Island) and I would love to share of the lessons I have learned and things I have picked up in my business experience with you and your reader base. I feel I would be a great asset for your already excellent blog. On the weekends I am an instructor at a local college where I teach small business owners how to get their name out there online (SEO, Email Marketing and much more).

If you would like me to write a piece for your site just reply and let me know the topic (and preferred length) of the article you want me to write. This content will not be shared with anyone else, it is exclusively for your site.

All I ask is for you to give me a little paragraph at the beginning of the article allowing me to introduce myself and build my reputation a bit. I feel this little arrangement will benefit us both and I really look forward to writing the first piece for you!

feel free to call me and we can chat.

All the best,
Jeffrey Gross

Andrea,
Yup, we're all in our own little worlds sometimes. It begins with awareness: awareness that something needs to be done and awareness that one has the capacity/ability to ACT to see that something is done.

Bravo for you for your quick action. (I noted that it wasn't until this "problem" had an effect on other commuters' schedule that people were roused enough to act.)

There probably needs to be noted/posted/announced somewhere -- repeatedly -- that Metro doors are definitely NOT like elevator doors. They won't retract when something is in their path. They are Man-Eating Doors. (We mean business here in Washington.)

Dr. Gridlock has a widget available here to show all elevator outages. (I just checked it, and it was about 3 hrs out of date, but better than nothing.)

I am looking forward to the spoiling. My father and his wife gave me giftcards to Victoria's Secret and Nordstroms, which I am looking forward to using once closer to goal weight. Personal Goal is to be 50lbs down by my SxSW trip in 3 weeks.
